Nourish the earth.
Aleterra is a public benefit corporation on a mission to reverse desertification, starting with the soil under the landscapes we already water.
Aleterra means "nourish the earth."
Our name joins two Latin words: alere, to nourish, and terra, the earth or soil. It describes exactly what we do. Our biology feeds the microbial life already living in the ground, and that living soil restructures itself to hold water where roots can reach it.
Our mission is written into our charter.
Aleterra PBC is a Delaware public benefit corporation. Our certificate of incorporation commits us to a specific public benefit: enhancing global climate resilience by reversing desertification and revitalizing ecosystems through scientifically validated improvements in soil water retention and microbiological health.
Reverse desertification
Healthy, living soil holds water, resists erosion and supports plant life. We restore that function in the landscapes people depend on.
Accountable beyond profit
As a PBC, our board must balance shareholder returns with our public benefit and with the interests of the customers, communities and ecosystems our work affects.
Validated by science
Our commitment is to scientifically validated results, measured in the field with sensors and flow meters rather than estimated.
